God Is Always Right ♡♡♡

"David got up from the floor, washed his face and combed his hair, put on fresh change of clothes, then went into the sanctuary and worshiped. Then he came home and asked for something to eat. They set it before him and he ate" - 2 Samuel 12:20 MSG

So I was speaking to a friend of mine Lara [Hi Lara :)] on Saturday, and we were sharing amongst many other things, the pain associated with some of "life's disappointments". Those that are difficult to understand or interprete. We can feel deeply hurt and upset when we hoped in God for specific outcomes but to our utter dismay. I know for me, the complexity and hard rock I do battle when disappointed, is the fact that God is unquestionable, sovereign, most wise, good and always right- dang! And so because He is all of all these endearing qualities and more, like a bird whose wings are clipped or caught in a cage: I can feel helpless, frustrated, stuck because there is no where else to turn to. I can't turn my back, that's not even an option. I mean where does one go after you have tasted and seen the goodness and kindness of our God? Where? No place else is worth  the stress!

David cried and prayed and cried and prayed for God to spare the child that was born out of his adulterous affair with Bathsheba. He fasted with every fiber of his being, in the hope that God would spare his child, but it didn't turn out the way he had expected. In a very rare and odd turn, when he hears that the child is dead. He gets up from the ground, washes himself, anoints, changes his clothes and he goes to the house of the Lord and worships - WOW. I totally get why his servants thought that was a really weird move. I mean, I would think it was "weird flex" too if it was all unfolding before my very eyes. David responds - "whilst the child was alive I fasted and wept for I said who can tell whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? - 2 Samuel 12:22-23.  When  David could do something he did, when he couldn't do anything about it, he gave it up and surrendered to the sovereignty of God. Let us note that David didn't give up, but he gave it up.

"But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity? In all this job did not sin with his lips" - Job 2:10

There was a time when David also said "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the Lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hands of the philistine" - 1 Samuel 17:37 - And God did just as David hoped, along with granting him so many other great victories in his life time. David's relationship with God was not shallow, David understood that God may not always do things the way he desired him to, but He is always right. Solomon the wisest man recorded in the bible was born shortly after that.

When we are dissapointed because life hasn't turned out the way we had anticipated, let us rest in the sovereignty of God. let us rest in his goodness, kindness and call to remembrance His aggressive faithfulness. It is not the time to cling to broken cisterns, though we may be tempted to do so, in order to numb the pain. It is not the time to pretend like we don't have questions, or that we are not hurt or dissapointed. It is the time to run to God with all of our jagged edges and bruised wounds. God can take it all. He can take every concern of our hearts and mix it right into the dough of his goodness, kindness, unfailing love & aggressive faithfulness.

"From that time many of his disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?" But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the son of the living God" - John 6:66-69

  1. Honestly David tried. He set a good example by praising God even when things didn’t go the way he wanted. May we be more like David with this. And may God grant us the desires of our hearts & also the patience to wait on Him faithfully. ❤️
