Grumbling, Is A Star Killer! ♡♡♡
"Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky" - Philippians 2:14-15
I admit that sometimes I can have the "messiah complex" [covers face] -You know that whole wanting to be there for everyone. Like, wanting to save all of thier cats, dogs and mice lol. The problem with this, is that there is a dimension of good works in there, but laced with pride. I can get overwhelmed, exasperated and begin to do the exact opposite of what the scripture tells us not to do. "grumbling, complaining whining, moaning etc. It is better not to do any of these things at all, than to do them with a really bad attitude. #sigh
.....But see what the prior scripture tells us though......
"....For it is God who works in you to will and act in order to fulfill his good purpose" OMG! - that scripture is humbling. It comes right before our focal scripture. This means that there is absolutely nothing anyone does in Christ, that they can take credit for. It is God doing the work. It is God who works in us to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. So if this is the case, then anything that we are "choiced" with, needs to be filtered by the ONE who wills things in us, who works in us to fulfill his good purposes. That way, we aren't headless chickens jumping at anything and everything outside of God's will, simply because it feels good.
Friends, not all "good things" are God things. Yea, you heard that right! Just because it seems good, doesn't necessarily mean that God wants us to jump right at it at that moment in time. Do you ever ask God questions like- "What do you have for me on my plate to do today?" "Are you happy for me to go in that direction?" "How would you like me to serve you better today?" - Since ultimately you are the one working it all out in my life. It's something I am also trying to do better at, so that whatever I do, I do to the glory of God.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" - Matthew 11: 28-29
It is not God's heart for us to burdened under all that He tasks us with. Another scripture says "It is His love that compels us..... -2 Corinthians 5:14-15". God wants us to do what he has called us to do cheerfully, heartily, with great joy and gladness and not through grumbling and arguing. Scripture tells us that this is the way to shine like stars amongst a crooked generation. This is the way to become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. I mean, we didn't even need to pay a shrink to learn this top secret. Let us get in the habit of asking God first, what He is calling us to do each day. And let us then throw ourselves at it without grumbling and arguing.
Grumbling is a star killer!
