....Something Better Than Super Nanny! ♡♡♡
I loved watching this tv series called "Supper nanny", when I lived in the UK. Basically it was about families who had really spoilt kids that desperately required intervention. In some cases, children terribly out of control, entitled, no regards for thier parents. Like some of these kids were super rebellious and down right rude. The intervention is usually by a professional lady called "super nanny". Super nanny would spend some days living with this family; teaching the parents how to discipline thier own kids for a while and go MIA for a period to see how the family is doing after every tip she put in place. Obviously before the intervention, these parents come to a point of desperation, because really there is nothing more frustrating and miserable than living and dealing with super "out of control" kids. So something "super" was required, hence super nanny lol
You see, though some earthly parents drop "the ball" in this area when it comes to "discipline" [no judgment intended], God is not like that. With God, discipline isn't just a one time thing. It is a long time thing. It is a necessary thing. It is the true mark of legitimate sons and daughters of God. I promise you I didn't make this up. It's right there in Hebrews 12:7-8 ;) No legitimate son or daughter of God is exempt.- scripture says thus "....they disciplined us for a little while as they thought best: [i.e our earthly parents] BUT God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness" - Hebrews 12:10. Our earthly parents or super nanny as from that tv series, only have a tiny fraction of knowledge compared to what God knows and understands about each of his children. So for a little while they'll do the best they can in thier limited understanding. God however has a major insight/oversight, a complete knowledge of every child that belongs to Him. You can bank on it that He is the perfect "Super Nanny"
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled but rather healed" - Hebrews 12:11-12. Woosaaaaah that last part though!!!!!!
Basically God is saying to us "man up" lol. For some people, it is thier disobedience that leads them to the "sculpturing" hands of God. For some others it is a necessary thing for where they are headed in thier own unique journey of life. Scripture tells us that even the son of God - Jesus, learnt obedience and became perfect by the things He suffered [Hebrews 5:8]. And because of this, He became worthy to take on the position of High Priest. How do we then think that we will be exempt from the sculpturing hands of God? God does not settle for mediocrity, he aims for Masterpieces! How can we from this moment begin to view discipline differently? For legitimate sons and daughters of God, this is a necessary thing! "In other that they may share in his holiness" - Hebrews 12:10. And "So that the lame may not be disabled but rather healed" - Hebrews 12:12

Thank you for sharing, Seun. May the grace to accept and grow from God's discipline abound in us. Amen!
ReplyDeleteDiscipline is a daily battle for me, but as I strive more towards it, I see the purpose of it and why it’s so important. Discipline is not in the word of God for no reason, we need to exercise it! Thanks for this read :)
ReplyDeleteKeep the rod and spoil the child. Thanks hun so deep ๐
ReplyDeleteProverbs 13:19a "A foolish child is a father's ruin." I read this a couple of days ago and your post really brought this to my mind, but in a completely different sense, i.e. how we can be to God when we are disobedient. I'm also reminded of the scripture in Genesis 6 where man's evil on the earth was so great and grieved God's heart so much He even regretted making man... wow! That we as lowly beggars on earth, as literal dust before a being as mighty and exalted as God, can in our sin make God feel this way, it really shows how close to God's heart we are. As such, as believers let's strive each day to live righteously before the Lord and embrace the hardships and sufferings we endure as Godly discipline so that we might as Seun so beautifully wrote "share in God's holiness".
ReplyDeleteOnce again, a wonderful Monday post, my love. So proud to be your hubby.
