If looks Could Kill ♡♡♡
Man, Jesus is so worth emulating. He had so much love to give. He is that one person, who would conveniently keep a betrayer in his gang [Judas that is] & also stand there and watch His close companion [Peter that is] deny him right in the face. Every time I read this Luke account of how Peter denies Jesus, I legit have "sheeves" down my spine. It's the "The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter part" for me. It get's me all the time. Can be likened unto the african mother look where she "gives you the eye" when you misbehave in public? lol. Or was it the "How you gonna do me like that?" look or "I told you, you were gonna betray me" look [I doubt this was the case, Jesus isn't even that petty lol]. But guys, I cannot even begin to imagine how Peter felt when he locked eyes with Jesus. Dang!
Peter had been with Jesus all this time. He confessed him publicly to be the Christ by revelation through the HolySpirit. He saw all of miracles, signs and wonders. He saw Jesus transfigured. He even almost refused that Jesus would wash his feet, along with the rest of the disciples; but then when Jesus said "you will not be a part of me" - he changes his mind and decides he would rather have Jesus bath him from head to toe lol. You just gotta love Peter. But we can all be like Peter. Make lots of many promises when everything is dandy. Speak when very excited about our loyalty to Christ. In the next breathe, under pressure and fear, we are out there out rightly denying that we know the man. Sinning "willy nilly" with our full chest & crumbling under the weight of persecution. But what happened though when Jesus looked straight at Peter? -Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him [the word does wonders in our lives for sure] - went outside and wept bitterly - That must have been a really hard day for Peter. My God!
"Simon , Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers" - Luke 22:31
Jesus knew what was going to happen on that day with Peter; but you know it doesn't even end there with Jesus. Even when he knows the "hooplamola" we are full of, He is not out there saying "I told you so, I told you so" na na na na gotya" lol. He is rooting that even inspite of whatever setback, our faith may not fail. That was the heart Jesus had for Peter, that is the heart Jesus has for you & I. And that is the heart we should have for others. "When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers". Jesus believed that Peter could bounce back. That's why He didn't say "If". Jesus said "When". Oh what a Saviour, so full of love. What a Saviour so believing of us!
Love,
SR

Grateful for a saviour who believes in me, even when I don't. ππΎπ
ReplyDeleteThankful for the amazing way Jesus loves us; no judgements and definitely no looks. Lol. May we be bold enough to extend such love and grace to others . Amenπππ
ReplyDeleteThank God for His amazing love always
ReplyDeleteNot if but when!!!! Our father is never condemning. That is the heart he wants us to have for others!!! God help me in this regard. Now this part is gold!!
ReplyDeleteAmazingly look how Peter turned out after that denial. God's love!!!! His love!!!!
Wonderful post sweety. And so true. Jesus demonstrated the love of the Father to Peter and in doing so showed us the sheer depth of the love he has for us. What's amazing about this account in the scriptures is the foreknowledge Jesus/God has about Peter's sin, and yet in spite of this, he already makes a provision of grace available to Peter.
ReplyDeleteThis is so profound. So no matter the depths of dereliction to which we (mis)behave, when (no if) we bounce back, God has provided for us the grace in Jesus to restore us. What an amazing God! So full of love, grace and truth.
