In The Middle Of A Situation♡♡♡

"She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said "I have now seen the One who sees me." - Genesis 16:13

Hagar was a slave maiden, who found herself right in the middle of a situation. She was hired to wait on her mistress. Until one day, both Abram and Sarai [her masters] drag her into thier situation. They got tired of waiting to have a child and Sarai thought it a good idea, to have a child through Hagar. Hagar never got the chance to even choose. "Well, Sarai needs a baby, and it so happens that you might be fertile, so I master Abram will come in unto you, ok? so we can please your Madame Sarai" - Scripture doesn't go into details about her response to what had been already decided for her. Bringing it home however, I imagine some bitterness and resentments. And if Hagar was in any way happy about what was decided for her. Perhaps "side eyeing" her master from afar all this time? You would agree that she was still right in the middle of a situation. Hagar gets pregnant and there is drama. scripture says:

"when she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress. Then Sarai said to Abram, "You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my slave in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the LORD judge between you and me" - Genesis 16:1-5

Sarai mistreated Hagar, until she flees from her. I love how God meets Hagar as she wanders in this place of confusion & misery; hurt and disappointed. God had a plan for Abram and Sarai, but he also had a plan for Hagar too. Yes, even the slave girl, gets candy too :)

"Go back to your mistress and submit to her. The angel added. "I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.". Genesis 16:9-10

Hagar was made to know that the Lord had heard her misery. The angel of the Lord, also shared all the other plans God had for her and her son, by the spring in the desert where he had found her. The heart of the Father is indeed beautiful. For anyone familiar with this story, we know that eventually Hagar was sent packing [into the plans God had for her]; only that this moment in time, wasn't the right time. The point is, no matter how hard things seem, saddened in the very state of confusion. In a pathetic situation she had found herself. God's eyes were never far from her still. She showed up at the spring. "For the Lord has heard your misery" - Vs 11

"She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said "I have now seen the One who sees me." - Genesis 16:13

Truth is, sometimes we are trying to get through life, minding the life we have been given, and as best as we can. But even the choices made by other people in our lives can impact us too. Confusing situations maybe? Paths you never decided for yourself?  Troubles you landed in just because? For someone, it could be that you feel like a second choice with everything. Hagar was an ordinary slave girl, who is all too familiar with that road, but before the God of the universe,  she mattered too :)

I read this scripture this week and I was taken aback - "The Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, Yes, they will know the Lord and will give their sacrifices and offerings to him. They will make a vow to the Lord and will keep it. The Lord will strike Egypt, and then he will bring healing. For the Egyptians will turn to the Lord, and he will listen to thier pleas and heal them" _ Isaiah 19:21-22

I kept thinking to myself "what? even the Egyptians too? the same Egyptians? lol. Well there you have it. Nobody is canceled. To be chosen is a choice. Anybody can have a shady start, but anyone can also have an epic ending. God's eyes are not only set for some. I hope this encourages your heart this week, whatever it is you are right in the middle of :)
