Like Fine Wine ♡♡♡

"Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now" - John 2: 10b

Jesus and his disciples had been invited to a wedding ceremony at Cana in Galilee. It's interesting how scripture starts out by saying that Jesus's mother was present there, but that they had also invited Jesus and his disciples to the ceremony too. That wedding planner had to be the real MVP [most valuable person]. And so when they had ran out of wine and his mother tried to persuade him to do his thing. Jesus is like "nah fam" leave me out of this will you?" [John 2:3-4] "My time has not yet come". Jesus be like "let me attend this wedding in peace mum" ---->But we know what mother's do best? They bring out the very best in us. It's what happened at this wedding ceremony :)

"His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons". Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water", so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside..." - John 2:5-9

I love that this wasn't about Jesus manufacturing wine from Kuala Lumpa or doing the akadabra here at this wedding. The empty Jars that the Jews would usually use for ceremonial washing, had to be first filled up to the brim. And it wasn't until when they would draw out some of it to serve; taking it to the master of ceremony, would it then become the "beautiful fine wine" that it became. The obedience; the starting out empty, the filing to the brim and the outpouring truly represents what the Lord does in our lives.

"Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much too drink; but you have saved the best till now" - John 2:10b

Choice wine first, cheaper wine last because we want to make an impression perhaps? But with wherever Jesus is present, it can be the BEST saved for last. With Jesus present, crisis and ciaos are great opportunities for mind blowing miracles like the turning of water into wine at Cana of Galilee. Likewise it may start out first like "ordinary intake of the word" but there comes a time when it truly becomes fine wine" if we would tarry long enough. But let us be first sure, that we've done a darn good job at planning. Jesus on your guest list is DOPE.

"Now may God give you of the dew of heaven. And of the fatness of the earth, And an abundance of grain and new wine" - Genesis 27:28

This is my prayer for you, as we step into a new week..
