Mother Goals ♡♡♡

"Then  Naomi her mother-in-law said to Ruth, 'My daughter, shall I not look for security and a home for  you, so that it may be well with you?" - Ruth 3:1

Naomi is mother goals! - I love the story of Ruth in the bible so much. Watch out for my romantic post next week "Love In Barley". But first in honor of mother's day, I would like to share six lessons from the beautiful relationship of Naomi + Ruth had. Why six? Because it is six alphabets that make up the word "Mother" hehe..

Beyond The Physical

♡Naomi was a great example to Ruth. Though wounded and hurt from all of life's woes; somehow Ruth insists - "Your God will be my God, and your people my people"- This foreigner girl Ruth clung unto her mother Inlaw, never fully understanding what the choice to cling meant for her. She obviously saw beyond Naomi's physical circumstances. Sometimes, we gotta look beyond the physical realities of others. No condition is permanent. We should lean on God more when it comes to making up our minds about others :)

Hardwork & Self Care

♡Ruth was a very hardworking woman. She was proactive. When they got back to Naomi's people at the beginning of the Barley Harvest: Ruth took the initiative to go look for where to serve & Naomi encouraged her in what she set out to do. The new work, was not anything flattering, yet she humbled out with what was in front of her. One day, at a time, start somewhere. Ruth worked from morning till evening. She would first look after herself until she was satisfied with what she had gleaned. Then she would give her mother-Inlaw, out of what she had saved after she was satisfied. This is significant. Ruth looked after herself first. We need to be filled ourselves, before we can wholly and truthfully serve others.

Transparency

♡Ruth and Naomi respected each other. They were both transparent with one another in thier relationship. Naomi had every reason to be a bitter sad woman, after all - life had dealt her too many hard blows. Yet, she would let Ruth know that the man in whom she had found favor with "Boaz', was thier Kingsman redeemer. Naomi desired progress for Ruth. She desired success for her. Ruth would also share details about her day with Naomi. What a beautiful bond indeed. Transparency is important as far as great bonding is concerned. Ruth in a sense, was also willing to sacrifice her own "wants" for what you could call "unknowns". Her loyalty to Naomi was unmatched. It did her a lot of good.

Mentorship

♡ Naomi mentored Ruth and Ruth was willing to embrace her mentorship. Ruth allowed herself to be led by Naomi. She obviously thought Naomi wise enough, to listen to whatever instructions she had for her, as she navigated new territories. Her wise words helped her to follow the path God had charted for her. This reminds me of our relationship with God. When we choose him, we must be willing also to listen and submit to him. Indeed Ruth demonstrates that truly Naomi's God was beginning to be her God and her people were also beginning to be her people. We can in the same way choose our relationships and choose to commit to them.

Relentless

♡ Sometimes we need to fight for our relationships. Ruth fought for her relationship with Naomi. Remember how at the beginning, Naomi had discouraged her daughter in-laws from following her back to Bethlehem. "I have nothing to offer you". Ruth was relentless for thier relationship. She felt that Naomi may not have much to give her, but she could serve Naomi in some ways. She loved Naomi too much.

Encourager

♡ Naomi was a great encouragement to Ruth, as Ruth was a great encouragement to Naomi also. "..Then Naomi said, "Sit and wait, my daughter, until you learn how this matter turns out; for the man will not rest until he has settled it today" - Ruth 4:18. Naomi encouraged Ruth to learn that after you've done all you can, you REST. Naomi taught Ruth patience. Rest in the Lord, and wait to see the outcome. Conversely Naomi is encouraged by Ruth also -----> "Then the women said to Naomi, "Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer (grandson, as heir) today, and may his name become famous in Israel. May he also be you to you one who restores life and sustains your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you and is better to you than seven sons, has give birth to him" - Ruth 4:14-15. - "Yea you can say awwww........"

Isn't it what our great mother's do? They look beyond who you are and what you are in the current moment. They work hard, although many of them need to learn to take care of themselves. They are nurturers, they are mentors, they are always sacrificing and they are always encouraging.

And my oh my, aren't they RELENTLESS?!!!

Happy Mother's day whether you are a biological one or whether you function in any of these capacities to some or to the many people in your life..

  2. "...This reminds me of our relationship with God. When we choose him, we must be willing also to listen and submit to him."..... Happy Mother's Day to you dearest Shay! No truer words than this. May we indeed be willing to submit to and listen to God, no matter how small a matter is. I loved the 6 points you gleaned from Ruth/Naomi's story and you explained them. Thanks for sharing your gift dear Shay!
