It's God Season ♡♡♡

"Is not the LORD your God with you? And has he not given you peace on every side? for he has delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and his people. Now set your mind and heart to seek the LORD your God. Arise and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that the ark of the covenant of the LORD and holy vessels of God may be brought into a house built for the name of the LORD" - 1 Chronicles 22:18-19 ESV

David purposed in his heart to build a house for the Lord, but God had that assignment for his son Solomon instead. What a noble thing. David had been a man of war for most of his life, but God said, "no not you" and David listened. First lesson here: understand the assignment and be content in it.

"...you shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed so much blood before me on the earth. Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his surrounding enemies. For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days. he shall build a house for my name. He shall be my son, and I will be his father, and I will establish his royal throne in Israel forever" - 1 Chronicles 22:8 10

David fought way too many battles, but in Solomon's time he'd enjoy abundance of rest and peace. As I pondered on that for a moment, nothing much has changed from how God operates. For David it was to pull down the Goliaths and for Solomon it was to usher the people courageously into a season of rest. What a legacy! In many ways this is symbolic of the story of the Messiah. We are to seize from our striving, by the new life Jesus gives. We can rest in the finished works. We no longer need to bear under the burden and weight of our sins, or under the weight of any kind of oppression for that matter. Stronghold enemies have been defeated on our behalf - because a true lasting King's royal throne is established forever.

And so here I was in the week; captivated by these words David commanded all the leaders of Israel, stationed to help Solomon with this assignment of "rest":): "Is not the Lord your God with you? And has he not given you peace on every side?.......[see focal scripture]". David, the voice of a true warrior indeed. He had seen/experienced God in real time. He could boldly proclaim to this next generation of leaders. "Is not the Lord your God with you and has he not given you peace on every side?" - Without realizing it sometimes; we are riding on the back of people like David, who have conquered great territories and subdued lands. For a season it was war time, but in another season it was peace and rest. May we always understand the times and seasons in Jesus might name. Amen

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to seek, and a time to cast away; a time to tear and a time to sew; a time to keep silence and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace" - Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

So here; something for you to ponder on as we wind down the month of September. What  legacy would you be leaving behind? What would the generation ahead have to endure or enjoy because of some of your current choices or your lack thereof? What battles are you facing head on now and conquering as you do life, so that your children can be at ease & rest when it's their turn? Would you be boldly proclaiming to the next generation like David -------> "It's God Season"?

"Now set your mind and heart to seek the LORD your God. Arise and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that the ark of the covenant of the LORD and holy vessels of God may be brought into a house built for the name of the LORD" - 1 Chronicles 22:19 ESV

Or would they remain entangled & caught up in "war fighting" when they ought to be enjoying some degree of quiet, peace and rest. Meanwhile let us also be reminded that Jesus fought hard for you and I, so that we can seek the Lord our God in true rest and in real peace. Truly this is my prayer and heart for you!

Shay

Amen. Thanks for the inspiring link to the double aspects of Jesus work as type of David who warred and conquered sin, death through the cross and as type of Solomon that brought us into unending peace and rest.
